    Our Kite Kits

Drachen has worked hard to procure and design kite kits that are affordable and easy to assemble, but most importantly, produce a kite that FLYS!  For the first time instructor, organizer, or kite maker, here are a few things to consider:

    1. Getting started: The best all around kite kit is the Trepanier Trapezoid, good for K to Adult (K with supervision).  It is affordable and adaptable to both light and medium wind conditions.  This kite can be assembled in less than 30 minutes (without decoration).  Start with our kit then experiment by replacing the bond paper and spars with your own paper and spar materials to design your own unique kites!

    2. Skill levels: With each kit we have indicated the skill level (Simple/Intermediate/Advanced)  and  age and/or grade range that the kit is most suited for.  Before choosing your kite kit, take a look at our detailed instruction sheet to be sure you understand what is involved in making the kite.

    3. What you need to supply: In most cases you will need  scissors to cut out your kite sail pieces, and markers, water based paints (thin application but not too runny), and/or colored pencils to decorate the sail.

    4. To assemble, use white liquid glue. Avoid Elmer’s black label and use only the blue label or equivalent liquid white glue.  The black label is too “wet” and will not dry quickly enough.

    5. Kite basics: Everything you need to know about flying a kite can be found on the Drachen website.
