About this Publication: Patang! For the first time, a documentary has been made on the national fighter kite festival in India. The day is January 14th, the time when the season changes and the winds begin to blow. Millions of habitants of India take to their rooftops to fly and fight with their kites. The kites are handcrafted in every color, and designed by master kite makers both Muslim and Hindu. The kite lines are coated with crushed glass and the purpose of the sport is to cut down as many kites as possible by slicing through their flying line. Everyone takes part, men, women, old and young, rich and poor---all flying kites!
