About this Publication: This exhibition is the first in the United States to bring together objects from all phases of Toledo's career and in almost all media the artist has employed, including paintings, prints, ceramic sculptures, and tapestry and gives us a complete picture of the creative depth of his artistic vision. In 2008, Toledo became taken with kites and incorporated them in his work, producing hundreds of kites using handmade papers produced in his hometown of Oaxaca, Mexico. These kites, many of which are part of the Drachen collection, can be better understood as a progression of Toledo’s work as documented in this book - a program which accompanied the exhibition.
